VVHC Selected for Statewide Health Collaborative
Helping Patients Where They Are
Valley View Health Centers (VVHC) has received an exclusive grant award to participate in the School-Based Health Center Quality Improvement Learning Collaborative: Improving SBHC Consent and Utilization. This initiative is organized by Ohio School-Based Health Alliance and supported by the Ohio Department of Health. VVHC is one of up to six operators selected statewide to take part in this program. This opportunity will provide the collaboration and support needed to ensure that the students and families within the school districts are fully utilizing the centers’ healthcare services and resources.
Valley View Health Centers has been awarded $22,500 to fund quality improvement activities such as marketing and strategic outreach tactics. These resources will directly support the school-based health centers operating within Scioto Valley Local Schools in Piketon and Manchester Local Schools in Manchester. The official project period runs from September 2026 through May 2027.
The core purpose of this collaborative is to evaluate and test strategies that increase student enrollment through enhanced parent and guardian consent processes. Expanding the number of students with active consents on file and increasing overall patient visit volume are critical steps toward ensuring the long-term sustainability of school-based health centers.
To achieve these goals, Valley View Health Centers will implement a strategic plan focused on workflow improvements, school engagement, marketing, and electronic health record optimization. The local health centers will participate in a structured learning process featuring virtual collaborative meetings, technical assistance, and data evaluation, with VVHC efforts being led by Jennifer Nathan, Director of Site Operations and Patient Access.
By tracking progress and outcomes, the successful practices developed in Piketon and Manchester will be shared with the collaborative to help improve school-based health operations across Ohio. Once again, giving Valley View Health Centers the opportunity to share impactful practices with peers and partners across the state.
