Energy Conservation
Services and Educational Opportunities
to Save $$ on your Heating and Cooling Costs

Home Weatherization Assistance Program

This program helps eligible families reduce their heating and cooling costs by increasing the energy efficiency of the home. Our trained auditors will asses the home to determine which conservation measures can be installed in the home (additional attic, wall or floor insulation, draft reduction, compact fluorescent lights) and determine if the measures winstalled will be cost effective (will the measure save more than it costs?).Our trained installers will install the cost effective measures to reduce your heating and cooling costs while increasing your comfort.
Our trained installers will install the cost effective measures to reduce your heating and cooling costs while increasing your comfort.
We test the home’s heating unit for safety and efficiency. Inefficient units will be tuned-up. Unsafe units will be repaired or replaced.
We will also provide energy conservation education to the family so that they can modify their energy usage behavior to gain additional savings.
This program is federally and state funded. All work is required to meet Ohio Weatherization Program Office of Energy Efficiency standards.
ELIGIBILITY: Income at or below 150% of the Poverty Income Guidelines.

Consumer Energy Education

This is a component of the Home Weatherization Assistance Program. Services provided include an in-home assessment of appliance energy usage (extremely inefficient appliances will be identified), heating unit testing (to identify an unsafe heating unit) and energy usage habits (involves the family in the assessment process and results in a list of conservation activities that, when practiced, will produce significant electrical energy savings and heating cost savings (geared to the type of heating fuel used by the household).
ELIGIBILITY: Income at or below 150% of Poverty Income Guidelines.
This educational opportunity is also available for a fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question -  “My furnace is broke. Can you come out and fix it?”
No. The Home Weatherization Assistance Program is not an emergency response program. There is a waiting list therefore services can only be provided to those who, after being selected from the waiting list, have applied and been approved for the program. The home assessment is usually scheduled within 2 months after the application and work is scheduled within a month thereafter.
Question - “Do you repair roofs, install septic tanks, build handicap ramp?
No. The Home Weatherization Assistance Program is not a home repair program. Our funds are earmarked only for the installation of energy conservation measures. We can do minor repairs only if needed to protect the measures that we install.
Question - “I make too much money to be eligible for your programs. Can I still get the services?
Yes. Contact us and ask about our FEE-FOR-SERVICE component, the RETROCO program.
