The CAC Early Childhood Program recognizes that any child in poor health can never function as well as a completely healthy child. Therefore, all children receive comprehensive health screenings which includes: 1) physical and dental exam, 2) hearing, speech, and vision screenings, 3) nutrition and immunization surveys. It is the responsibility of the parents to make arrangements for the physical and dental examinations. The program provides the hearing, speech, and vision screenings by trained staff.
Meals are planned by a Dietetic Technician following USDA Guidelines. Children are encouraged to taste the food that is offered to them or the food they think they don’t like. We also introduce a variety of ethnic foods. Center meals are catered, but the children are provided the opportunity to prepare foods as part of the nutrition education program. All staff who handle food wear food service gloves and have a tuberculosis test for safety and sanitation purposes.
